Add AC Repair and Service to Your Spring To-Do List

April 28, 2016

Spring is finally here. We’re awfully sure your to-do list already feels a mile long, but we have a handful of things that might save you some trouble and keep you cozy in the months to come. The weather is already heating up in Anchorage and the last thing you want is to discover is that you need AC repair. Going through this quick checklist now might save you from sweating this summer.

  1. Check Your Air Filter and Ducts
Swapping your air filter makes it to almost all of our lists of pointers because it's so important and so often overlooked. If your air filter is dirty, your system will have to work harder to keep you comfortable. This costs you more money and causes more stress on the system which reduces the life and efficiency of your system. Your ducts and registers are an additional piece of the puzzle that is often neglected as well. While you're spring cleaning, take off the covers from your registers and vacuum inside them. While you have the covers removed, soak them in mild dish soap, give them a scrub and switch them after they've dried.
  2. Clean Your Outdoor Unit
Keep any outdoor units free of debris such as grass clippings, leaves or plant overgrowth. This debris can impact your system and cause it to decrease its efficiency.
  3. Schedule Your Annual AC Tune-Up
This is where we come in to help you tackle that to-do list. An annual AC tune-up prolongs the life of your system and keeps it running at top efficiency. Spring is the ideal time to schedule your tune-up so any concerns or AC repair that needs to be made can be taken care of before the hot summer months. The cost of a tune-up is a small investment into the lifecycle of your system. Think of it as giving your air conditioner an oil change.

We can't help you with your entire spring to-do list, but we can help you with all things involving your home comfort. We want to ensure you’re cool and comfortable all summer long. If you have any questions about spring cleaning, your system or need to set up your annual AC tune-up, please give us a call at 907-202-9798.
